Thanks for reading this.
Having gone full-hermit in the last decade, I am (again) struggling for ‘bringers’ for two x five minute spots in Kentish Town in the next few days. Most promoters at this level demand one otherwise you don’t get to perform. It’s understandable but it’s also a pain (a nightamare for the introvert) and it really affects my preparation. Thankfully this week at least, half of my gigs haven’t required the Plus 1. H
If you can make either of the gigs, please drop me an email.
Had I known one day I’d be in this position, would I have made more of an effort to engage with friends over the last few years? Would I have worked on my SMALL talk in case my Plus One on the night ended up being a stranger?
These are good questions. Certainly I would’ve tackled the latter, though I think my SMALL talk is stronger this side of the pandemic.
Please note, no alcoholics.

Hello everyone,
I’m meant to be doing 5 minutes at the venue below but won‘t be permitted to if I have no bringer. Is anyone around on Wed 2nd March? As a world class hermit the last few years, this bringer business is proving problematic.
It's a Pay What You Want night.
If you fancy it, please email me. Details below.
Wed 2 March
Big Nose Comedy 8pm (Pay What You Want)

2022 STAND UP GIGS (5 min spots)
If any London-based listeners fancy being a +1 on one of these gig nights, do please get in touch. Having gone full-hermit in the last decade, I am struggling for ‘bringers’ and it’s unfair to rely on a handful of friends to turn up in support. Personally I’m not a fan of the +1 thing in that it is a distraction and can affect the easily-affected (like me) in terms of preparing for the night. But the facts are most promoters demand one otherwise you don’t get to perform. Hence this call out. If you can make one, please drop me an email.
The nights tend to be free entry but if they’re not, I’ll cover your entry. If you need to cancel, no problem, but please try and give me a week’s notice so I can find an alternative.
Thank you.
I’ve bolded the gigs where I do already have a confirmed +1. As you can see, I’m not doing well.

When Shorts Were Short concerns itself solely with what was actually a very narrow window in football history when teams wore, well, short shorts. The podcast takes 1954 as its starting point, when Umbro made their first England kit with shorter shorts, to 1992, when short shorts were all but finished as Umbro's baggy shorts for Tottenham's new kit, ahead of the '91 FA Cup Final, quickly caught on.
If the shorts weren't short, we don't talk about it.
This episode was originally a Patreon bonus show back in Oct '21.
My first Classic Kits guest is Adam Riches, author of Football’s Comic Book Heroes, a comprehensive look at UK football comic strips, from their beginning in the early 20th century and taking in the 54-92 period that we cover. And Adam has chosen several strips plus his favourite ever football comic strip kit, no easy thing when you factor in many of these strips were black and white.

Following on from last week’s post requesting potential locations for my short film (appreciate the social media shares), I’m just putting a callout for the few locations that I still haven’t found.
I’ve got one property to see which looks ideal for the shoot and will be able to use it for most of my interiors. However, I still need access to a block of flats so that I can film in the communal hallways, both on the ground floor and also a staircase.
If you’re able to help, or put me in touch with someone that can, please drop me an email with ‘comedy short’ in the title. Should the flat tenants/owners wish to appear in the comedy short as extras, as a thank you my end, that can be arranged.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Retweets/shares on social media are much appreciated.
